DIGITAL DESPERADOS
Digital Desperados is the DIY short film-making couse for young black/asian/south asian/ roma/ latino/ mixed race etc women aged 16 – 30 that I started in reaction to the lack of films being screened by women of colour and the racism within the so-called ‘radical’ queer scene.. The first course took place from february to mid-march, culminating with a screening at the CCA. The films made were split down the middle – 2 of them were performance pieces and the other 2 were fictional shorts. In 2011 we ran another course, pulling in all sorts of amazing women to teach workshops – the sound worksop & self defence in particular were amazing, but then again so were the others!
